The Importance of Coaching in the Workplace

Coaching is importance in the workplace.

Firstly, we’ve got the idea of enhanced performance. How is it your team know what they need to do? How do they know the areas that they’re doing really well on? How about the areas that you really want them to improve on, but they don’t necessarily know how to close that gap and increase their skill set? This is where coaching on a regular basis is really important.

Secondly, improved communication. One of the things that I get told about a lot is how employees wish communication was better in the workplace. Now we’ve talked about what is models of communication and how we can improve that. Regular coaching sessions are a way to improve communication. Think about the relationships you could build if you could better get to understand some of the nuances and the ways others prefer to be communicated to, not to mention an increase in the levels of communication within your team.

And thirdly, empowering people. When you look at the models of motivation, empowering people is one of the key things that we can actually do to motivate people and who doesn’t want teams that are motivated?

So, I just have one question for you – if you’re not coaching as a leader, what is it you are doing?
